For many travelers, airport security is perceived as a nuisance. Long lines and invasive TSA officers often stress out passengers even though it ultimately ensures safety. Since self- service is a growing industry, Palo Alto based start-up Qylur has created self-service airport security checkpoints. The machine identifies harmful objects and substances by comparing scanned objects with previously scanned objects. This machine could potentially reduce fifteen TSA officers at a checkpoint to five. Apple Just Ended the Era of Paid Operating Systems

Following the release of Apple’s new iPhones at the beginning of the month, Apple has introduced the latest editions to the iPad, Macbook, Mac Pro, and OS families. The dominant headline since the event, held San Francisco, was Apple’s announcement to end the era of paid operating systems. Mavericks, the newest OS, is available to Mac users for free. In the past, Apple has charged users between $129 and $19 to update their operating system. This move signals Apple’s effort to push desktop and laptop sales towards the growth seen in the smartphone and tablet marketplace.

Ecommerce giant Ebay has revealed plans that will allow users to begin curating collections. This interactive feature encourages users to create distinct profiles of themselves or their business, while also allowing users to follow each other’s collections. To further distinguish themselves in the marketplace, Ebay plans to boost holiday sales through their mobile app and are planning to have celebrities design exclusive collections. Ebay is also expanding “Ebay Now”, a local delivery program that delivers products to customers within an hour of purchase.
